Winter Road Status Updates

The James Bay Winter Road connects the communities of Attawapiskat, Fort Albany, and Kashechewan to Moosonee through the annual construction and maintenance of an ice road. From Moosonee there is a rail link to the main Ontario provincial highway system at Cochrane.

The James Bay Winter Road is operated and managed by the Kimesskanemenow Corporation, a corporation jointly owned by the three communities it connects, Attawapiskat, Fort Albany, and Kashechewan. The word kimesskanemenow is a Cree word which means our road.

This website provides road users with up to date road status and conditions, and provides access to the past newsletters, employment opportunities with Kimesskanemenow Corporation, and contact information.
